Dec. 29, 2008 (China Knowledge) - Hong Kong stocks climbed 21 points or 0.15% to end the morning session at 14,205 points, with mainboard turnover standing at HK$12.30 billion.
Hang Seng China Enterprise Index, which tracks the overall performance of 43 Chinese mainland state-owned enterprises on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, gained 35 points to 7,720 points.
Market heavyweight HSBC Holdings Plc<5><HBC>, which accounts for the largest weighting for the Hang Seng Index, fell 0.744% to HK$73.40.
Another market heavyweight China Mobile<941><CHL>, the largest firm by capitalization in the Hong Kong market, advanced 1.00% to HK$75.25.
Sinopec<600028><386><SNP>, Asia's largest oil refiner, shed 0.21% to HK$4.63, while PetroChina<601857><857><PTR>, the country's largest oil producer and also involved in refining business added 2.51% to HK$6.52.
Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC)<601398><1398> tumbled 0.72% to HK$4.11.
Top insurer China Life Insurance<601628><2628><LFC> climbed 1.09% to HK$23.00.
